Have you ever been in a place mentally, or even physically where you are crying out to God wondering where he is or begging for a move of God?
I have! and there are SO many verses in the Bible where the writer asks “God how long? (Psalm 13:1, Habakkuk 1:2, Psalm 6:3, Psalm 35:17 Etc.)
As I was thinking about the word REMEMBER I first thought of the Israelites and how they saw literal CRAZY MIRACLES like the sea being parted (Exodus 14:21-29), God providing HEAVENLY food “manna” that fell from the SKY (Exodus 17:1-7), and other amazing NOT normal things.
YET, they still FORGOT God’s goodness and began to grumble, complain, and try to do things on their own.
At first I was thinking how could you forget the Goodness of God when you saw all of that!! I would never (Cue rolling eyes here)
I then was listening to a song called “My Testimony” by Elevation Worship and it hit me.
The verse that got was me “I believe in signs and wonders, I have resurrection power, Still the MIRACLE that I just can’t get over. MY NAME IS REGISTERED IN HEAVEN. This is my TESTIMONY from DEATH to LIFE.”
It hit me because, you can see a Miracle with your eyes but it is your heart that will falter if we are not remembering the MIRACLE that we were brought back from death to life.
Yes, life can be hard, things can happen where you desperately need a move of God or even a miracle, but in our daily lives when things are going “good” if we are not remembering the MIRACLE of Jesus dying for us and the GOODNESS of God then our heart will falter and our eyes will be turned to our struggles instead of the one who saved us.
Provers 3:3: “Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. TIE them around your NECK; WRITE them on the TABLET of your HEART.”
Psalm 145:5-7 “I will MEDITATE on the glorious splendor of your majesty; and on your WONDROUS works.”
Psalm 9:1 “I will give thanks to the LORD with my WHOLE HEART; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.”
Anxiety, depression, worry, control, racing thoughts, fear, all happens when we are only looking internally and trying to do things on our own.
We forget that the Lord has been there for us, that he is GOOD all the time, and that he is with us now.
It won’t matter if you are given a miracle if you are not constantly meditating on his word and constantly calling out for a reforming of your mind from the Holy Spirit.
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWAL of your mind, that by testing you may DISCERN what is is the will of God, what is GOOD and acceptable and perfect.”
another translation says “don’t become so ADJUSTED to your CULTURE that you fit in without even thinking.”
Let us DAILY meditate on the LIVING WORD of God! not the racing negative thoughts the enemy is trying to keep you down with.
Let us DAILY bring to mind the goodness of God, the testimony of being brought back to life by the death and resurrection of JESUS.
I am NOT saying that life won’t be hard BUT let’s look to our hearts and mind and see how we are allowing the enemy to keep us down when we have a GOOD GOOD FATHER who is with us and says “DON’T worry about anything, but in EVERYTHING THROUGH PRAYER and petition WITH THANKSGIVING, present your requests to God and the PEACE of God WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD your hearts and MINDS IN Christ Jesus or savior.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
The peace you will have will not be understandable by your culture, friends, even family. But it is yours to have IN Jesus!!
(And let me just say, as someone who has chronically struggled with Anxiety, this verse use to make me so irritated. BUT now that I have been growing closer to the Lord I understand it so much clearer now! )
If this is something that you struggle with or maybe need help reaching please feel free to reach out. I’d love to talk about this and help you come to a place of remembrance so that we become closer to the Lord and kick the enemy in the face!!
+write down what he has done for you SO THAT you can go back in hard times and REMEMBER
